Ramos on joining Liverpool: 'I feel privileged to take this shirt'

Natalia Ramos sat down with the club's media team at Melwood hours after her move from CD Tenerife Femenino went through, and the overwhelming impression was of a player who had made up her mind a long time before the paperwork caught up.

This is the first time the 27-year-old has played outside Spain. Her reasoning was simple: chances like this tend to come around once, and she believes she is ready for it now rather than later.

“For me it was a very easy decision — I feel very happy and privileged to take this shirt and sign at the club.”

First impressions of Melwood

Ramos said she had been struck by everything from the pitches to the staff, and returned repeatedly to the idea of feeling at home — something she considers essential when a player uproots their life for a new league.

What Liverpool are getting

Asked to describe her own game, Ramos framed it around ambition and character: a midfielder who wants to attack, will do the defensive side, and likes scoring goals. Last season's ten-goal, five-assist return backs that up, and she was clear she has no intention of treating it as a ceiling.

There is a familiar face waiting for her too. Ramos already knows compatriot Alejandra Bernabe, and said she was looking forward to getting into Gareth Taylor's group — the pitch, in her words, being the place she is most comfortable.
